The statistics for cities are as follows: 68% of users access the Internet from a mobile device.
In 2013, there were 56% of them. Villages are lagging behind, but not by much: last year, every second inhabitant of rural areas went online at least once a month.
Mobile users over the past year have become a significant part of the audience of sites.
The share of visits to websites from smartphones and tablets is 23%. It has grown one and a half times compared to the previous year. Moreover, smartphones are more popular among Russians. They were used for Internet surfing in 2014 almost twice as often as tablets.
The most popular OS on smartphones is Android, two-thirds of site visits are carried out from it. The second most popular is Apple (28%), followed by Windows Phone (3.5%).
The share of devices running Java, Symbian and bada has decreased by almost three times compared to last year.
With tablets, everything is different: Android is still inferior to iOS. However, the gap between these two platforms has significantly narrowed compared to 2013. Yandex analysts make the assumption that in 2015 statistics may be in favor of Android.
Now to the applications. Users on average use five or six a day. By city, this number differs slightly: in Moscow, applications are used a little more actively than the average in Russia. Everywhere, except for some reason in St. Petersburg, women use apps more often than men.
Well, and finally – some general figures. The Internet audience in Russia is about 72 million people. Over the past year, the number of those who use the network in one way or another has increased by 9%.
