Opinion: in the mobile business, the most important thing is user retention
The main indicator of the success of a mobile project is how well it retains users, says Hugh Reynolds, executive director of the analytical company Swrve.
Often, Reynolds believes, developers call the acquisition of new users the solution to all problems. Low ratings? poor visibility of the project? a small gain? – need more users!
Reynolds does not agree with this approach. It is necessary to focus primarily on the retention, since it is this indicator that signals to the developer whether his project is successful. In other words, “we need to capture the attention of users,” because if people stay in the game, it means that the developer is moving in the right direction.
Thus, if retention rates are low, then you need to stop and think about what is wrong with the project. And only by correcting them, you can think about attracting users.
