Tabloid newspaper The Sun has taken up the development of mobile games
The UK’s largest tabloid, The Sun, has announced plans to create a mobile gaming platform where users can bet for real money.
Each publication struggles with the media crisis in its own way. Some are changing the design, others are being sold, and others are laying off 90% of employees. The British newspaper The Sun, which is something like the Russian “Your Day”, decided to make mobile games.
It is for this purpose that the newspaper signed an agreement with Nektan, an “international b2b provider of mobile gaming platforms”, under which a “product” Sun Play will be created. As far as can be understood from the far from the most detailed press release, mobile games will be released within the framework of the mentioned product, which can be played for real pounds.
How exactly the platform will work and look like is not entirely clear at the moment. Most likely, we are talking about html5, and not at all about a native solution. In any case, on the part of The Sun, such a step, though risky, is not a meaningless decision.
The fact is that about 7 million people read The Sun every day every day. Roughly speaking, the publication is not deprived of traffic. Its additional monetization with the help of mobile games can be a very successful move.
