Apple has changed the price tags on apps in Europe, Russia and Canada

Last week, Apple conducted a major revision of price tags in a number of regional App Stores. The changes affected not only Russia.

Apple сменила ценники на приложения в Европе, России и Канаде

The minimum price in the British iOS app store has risen by 15%. If earlier it was £0.69, now it is £0.79. The last time Apple changed prices in the UK was in 2011. Then they grew by 10%.

In mainland Europe, the minimum price tag has also increased. It jumped by 10 euro cents: from €0.89 to €0.99. This is largely due to the introduction on January 1 in the territory of the European Union of new rules for calculating VAT for digital products (now the tax is paid where the product was purchased or the service was performed).

The price has also increased in Canada, where Apple has not changed it for six years. The minimum bid for a paid app/IAP was $(Canadian)1.19. Previously, it was held at $0.99 (Canadian). As one of the possible reasons, there may be a drop in the exchange rate of the Canadian dollar against the US dollar (by 10% only in the last six months).

As for the Russian App Store, at the moment the minimum price of the application is 59 rubles. However, given that only today, at the Central Bank rate, the US currency has grown by 6.5 rubles, it is unclear how long this price tag will be relevant.
