Alibaba and Yodo1 have launched a social mobile gaming platform KTplay
Chinese publisher and developer Yodo1, together with Alibaba Media Corporation, launched the mobile social gaming platform KTplay. With its help, there have already been more than 60 million downloads of games. Thus, about 50 Chinese developers have significantly increased the profitability of their titles.
Spencer Liu, head of the production department at KTplay, in his interview with Venturebeat, said that the platform is “tailored” to the needs of game developers. Its purpose is to help them interact directly with users. Thus, KTplay is not only a gaming platform, but also a social network that connects gaming communities.
Lew stated that games that use the platform have shown a significant increase in revenue, as well as virality and user engagement indicators. For example, the profitability of the OMG:TD! title has increased by 400% since using KTplay.
Initially, KTPlay was developed by Yodo1 as a gaming and social platform for the company’s developers and their players. The idea was such a success that the company’s management decided to open the network not only for its own partners.
The project is currently in beta testing.
