How much to sell paid games for?
The analytical resource EEDAR analyzed 500 games from the US box office top for the 3rd quarter and claims that the price of the best-selling paid games ranges from $1.99 to $4.99.
In its research, the company looked for a pattern between the price, the commercial success of the game and the user rating. It turned out the following: the most profitable titles were expected to be free titles (they own more than 90% of the total revenue from iOS games).

Users rated the games the highest, whose cost ranged from $0.99 to $1.99. But at the same time, the highest-grossing games cost from $ 1.99 to $ 4.99.

Of the paid applications worth more than $10, only three games managed to enter the top 500: BioShock, Civilization Revolution 2 and Monster Hunter Freedom. Moreover, the average ratings of these titles are lower than those of other, cheaper ones. EEDAR suggested that this may be due to high expectations: players tend to be more demanding of expensive titles.
The company's research covers the period from July 1 to September 30, 2014. The data for the analysis — price, average score and user rating — are taken from iTunes.
