Sex Pistols Frontman Spent $15,000 on Shareware Games
John Lydon, the former lead singer of the punk band Sex Pistols, admitted that in two years he spent more than $15,000 on micropayments in shareware games.
In an interview with The Telegraph newspaper, the musician said that "like an idiot he spent money on games," including Game of Thrones Ascent, Game of War and Real Racing. Lydon, in his own words, indulged his own "inner child" when making micropayments.
Now the musician has managed to bring spending under control.
The topic of shareware games - and addiction to them — is increasingly surfacing in popular culture. For example, in one of the latest episodes of South Park, the hero "gets hooked" on an F2P game and spends a fortune on it.
