Is the Battlefield 4 demo getting ready for release on iOS?

BATTLE

DICE Studio managed to partially launch the Battlefield 4 game on iPad and iPhone using its own Frostbite engine. According to the developers, the new Apple Metal graphics standards helped speed up the process.

DICE Technical Director Kristoffer Benjaminsson said that thanks to the new capabilities of the Metal API, the team managed to make progress in adapting Battlefield 4 for iOS. However, the limitations imposed by the chosen format may force them to either reduce the quality of graphics or reduce the number of objects in the game.

"In order to make it convenient to work with destruction or moving light sources, many moments in the Frostbite engine occur in real time. This creates additional difficulties if your goal is to create a detailed world with high—quality graphics."

The studio management stressed that they are working on a demo version of Battlefield 4, and there is no talk of a full-fledged mobile game yet.
