King: the right size of the studio is 70-80 people
An extensive interview with King Creative director Sebastian Knuttson appeared on Venture.
The material itself is timed to coincide with the upcoming worldwide release of Candy Crush Soda Saga, the fraternal title of the original Candy Crush Saga.
According to Sebastian, they worked on the game for about a year.
Like previous titles, the “soft launch” of Candy Crush Soda Saga was arranged first on Facebook. At the moment, to be sure, the game is also being “tested” on mobile platforms before the big launch. The novelty is planned to be updated, like the original, once every two weeks. But Sebastian did not rule out that weekly updates are possible from time to time.
The first version of the game will have 135 levels (at the moment, the number of Candy Crush Saga levels has reached 600, along with Dreamworld – more than 1000 levels).
Sebastian did not specify exactly how many people are working on each title. However, he noted that in each studio King (and there are now 9 pieces) has from 70 to 80 people. This number of employees is enough for two or three games.
“For us, this is the right size if you want to have a flexible and dynamic company,” Sebastian Knattson.
