It was Robert Chamberlain, the man responsible for selling PopCap to the EA giant for $1.3 billion in 2011.

Robert ChamberlainWhen asked by our colleague from VentureBeat, Paul Thelen, CEO of Big Fish, whether he plans to sell his company for $1.3 billion to Electronic Arts, the latter grinned and said “no”.

Robert replaced David Stephenson, who, after three years in Big Fish, returned to Amazon, which recently bought Twitch. However, David wanted to return for a long time, so HR Big Fish stood “on their ears” for six months, choosing the right candidate.

Big Fish’s revenues last year amounted to $266 million and could reach $300 million by the end of this year. To date, the company has distributed more than 2.5 billion copies of games in 150 countries. The Big Fish catalog has 3,500 PC titles. However, at the moment, one of the highest-grossing games of the company is the mobile Big Fish Casino.

The company started as a distributor of casual projects. She distributed them through her own website (a kind of miniature App Store). At the moment, Big Fish has been trying to transform itself into a publisher of mobile and social games for many years with varying success.
