VKontakte is six times cheaper than WhatsApp
One of the largest Russian social networks is not worth much: a little more expensive than the developers of Oculus Rift and much cheaper than WhatsApp.
At least, you can talk about it if you start from the amount you paid Mail.ru Thanks to media magnate Ivan Tavrin (CEO of Megafon and the UTV media holding, in 2011 Tavrin took 350th place in the top Russian billionaires) for 12% of VKontakte. According to Vedomosti, Mail.ru The Group paid $345 million for the share. So it turns out that the entire company was valued by the parties at $2.9 billion. Recall that Oculus VR was acquired for $2 billion
It's funny, but Tavrin himself acquired a share quite recently. In January, he bought it from Pavel Durov for an unknown amount.
