Bioshock will be released on iOS this summer
2K Games will release a mobile version of the Bioshock shooter, created by Ken Levine's now-dissolved Irrational Games studio, on the App Store by the end of this August.
Apparently, the XCOM experience turned out to be really successful. He inspired the American company not only to create a full—fledged mobile “Civilization”, but, it turns out, to literally transfer one of the main 2K blockbusters, Bioshock, to iOS.
According to TouchArcade and Digital Trends, the game is worth waiting for in the next 30 days. It will be distributed, like most 2K Games projects, as a paid application. The expected price is somewhere in the region of $20.
From the original version, released in the United States on August 21, 2007, the game will mainly differ in graphics. Unfortunately, not for the better. In order for the lag-free game to run on the latest generation of iOS devices, developers had to sacrifice clear textures, shadows, animations and high resolution.
Whether the game in this form will be able to bring pleasure is a big question. But it is already clear that its sales will please 2K, because Bioshock is a big, well—known brand. In our opinion, it would have been better if Ken had been allowed to make a tactical Bioshock for the PSP Vita at the time.
