Almost 85% of smartphones in retail run on Android
84.6% of smartphones delivered to the market in the second quarter of 2014 are running on Android, according to Strategy Analytics.
A year ago, the share of shipments of Android smartphones in the second quarter was slightly less - 80%. But if we look at supplies in quantitative terms, they have grown significantly: from 186.8 million to 249.6 million.
Budget devices are still called the driver of the growth of the operating system.
As for iOS, its share fell from 13.4% to 11.9%, despite the growth in quantitative terms (35.2 million devices, against 31.2 million).
Shipments of smartphones shipped to the market with other operating systems, in turn, fell not only in percentage terms, but also in quantitative terms.
In total, from April to June, global smartphone shipments reached 295.2 million. This is 27% more than in 2013.
