Analytical services: interview with Appsee

1

There are a lot of different analytical solutions on the market now. It sometimes seems to us that competition in this area will soon catch up with a similar one among games. There are many names, some are heard, some are not, everyone says that they are the best. To understand the situation, we decided to slowly start communicating with various companies engaged in analytical solutions for mobile developers. The first person we talked to was the Israeli Appsee.

In a nutshell, the company provides software for analyzing the behavior of users of mobile applications. Our questions were answered by the CEO and co-founder of Appsee, Zahi Bousiba.

Hi! To begin with, please tell us a little about yourself: why and where did you come to mobile, why did you take up analytics?

It all started with the development of the social and commercial application ShopTalk, which was created some time ago by me and my partner, with whom Appsee was later founded..

We had a very simple registration in the application (literally in three steps). But as it turned out, only 50% of users passed it to the end.

This prompted the creation of its own analytical core inside the application. All Appsee features were invented and implemented based on the urgent need for us to understand the user's behavior in the application. ShopTalk, however, did not become successful, but it helped us decide what we want to do and what tasks to solve. Actually, that's how Appsee was born.

Now let's talk in detail about the service!

Look, AppSee is the first analytics platform that allows app developers to measure, figure out, and improve the user experience in mobile apps.

Isn't it too loud? There are a lot of different analytical tools on the market right now, what makes your application better?

Yes, there are at least 20 companies on the market now that offer various analytical solutions for mobile applications. But we have one important "trick": we are able to make a video recording of user behavior in the application.

What do you usually see in any analytics? That's right, a column of numbers or graphs. And in AppSee, you can view on video where the user clicked in each individual session, how he used the application, and what problems he encountered during interaction. At the moment, only we can do this.

As far as I understand, your focus is still on testing the user experience, but do you consider any basic things like LTV and retention?

Of course, we also measure standard key metrics like the number of active users, the number of downloads, revenue, retention, and so on.

Imagine the following situation: you analyze the retention report and see that 50% of the users who installed the application never launch it after the first launch. Using AppSee, you can see how these users behaved in their first session, which led to the fact that they no longer use it.

What is the price of the question?

The price tag depends on the number of sessions per month and the number of applications you want to cover. The price starts at $350 per month, but we offer discounts for small companies and independent developers.

Are there any restrictions on the amount of information or the number of events monitored?

No. Today we track billions of data entry points every month. Our infrastructure is designed with the expectation that it can be scaled, and we have no problems monitoring applications with hundreds of millions of monthly sessions.

Thanks for the interview!

P.S. At the moment, the service only supports iOS.
