5th Planet Games Studio raised $3 million
5th Planet Games studio, engaged in the development of hardcore mobile and web projects, announced the receipt of investments in the amount of $ 3 million from DCA Capital Partners and Moneta Ventures.
Writing about a $3 million round after the news that a relatively small company is valued at $3 billion is a bit difficult. In both cases, we are talking about large amounts, but obviously the order is different. Both deals indicate that it is no longer so much the mobile market as the mobile games market that is becoming the object of close attention from venture capitalists and big brands. However, it is still difficult to talk about how serious this is. In the latter case, of course, we are not talking about the vagueness of the prospects for mobile gaming, but about whether representatives of large capital who came to the market after the crazy success of GungHo and Supercell will be able to repel their investments.
As for the amount raised by 5th Planet Games, it will go towards the development of future company projects and marketing campaigns.
There are no very high-profile projects in the 5th Planet Games portfolio yet, she has not published the most successful Dawn of the Dragons on the mobile market, she has two more projects on the web: MMO Clash of the Dragons and Legacy of a Thousand Suns. All the games of the studio, which has about 70 employees, are distinguished by archaic graphics and not the friendliest and simplest interface. Apparently, this does not prevent the company from making money.
