Is Nvidia preparing a new Android mobile console?
According to rumors, Nvidia is preparing another product close in spirit to the Nvidia Shield portable console.
This was reported by the BBC news service yesterday. According to her, the American company is "preparing a budget controller for an Android device that will also be able to stream games from a PC to a TV via an HDMI port."
However, the journalist immediately clarifies: the device "will be able to run native Android games using the new Tegra K1 chip."
Based on this, it is difficult to understand what exactly the company is preparing (a second Shield or something like a full-fledged set-top box for Android TV?), so we turned to the Russian division of the company.
Irina Shekhovtsova, NVIDIA's PR manager in Russia, said that the company "traditionally does not comment on unannounced products." But she agreed to answer a couple of questions that had been bothering us for a long time.

1. Why does Nvidia need its own portable console (is it a branded project or something else)?
We need our own product as a platform to maximize the capabilities of our processors and related technologies. In partner solutions, we still do not determine the final design of the product and its functionality, so often the potential of our solutions remains not fully disclosed. In addition, our own products allow us to link solutions and technologies from different segments to each other. For example, the ability to stream PC games to mobile devices such as SHIELD allows you to use PCs and mobile devices within a single gaming ecosystem.
2. How many were sold Shield-total devices?
Regarding the answer to the second question, we are not announcing global sales results, but in Russia we see very good demand for SHIELD gaming devices.
