VKontakte has announced a mobile gaming platform
As part of its speech at White Nights 2014, the Russian social network VKontakte announced the imminent launch of a mobile gaming platform as part of the mobile versions of the VK application for Android and iOS.
Before the announcement itself, VKontakte also shared the figures:
- Every third user of the social network is a player;
- In 2013, VKontakte earned 2 billion rubles;
- The DAU of the Android version of VKontakte is 12 million;
- The DAU of the iOS version of VKontakte is 4 million.
The new platform will work within the framework of the VKontakte mobile application. The social network application will have its own showcase with games (games list), the ability to send alerts to players, send requests to friends, and so on.
A new version of the social network app for Android will appear next week, followed by an iOS version.
At the start, four games will be available as part of the gaming platform. "Looking for a Hero" from Alis games, two as yet unannounced projects from Nevosoft and another mysterious title.
VKontakte will take 50% of the game's revenue from mobile platforms. The social network plans to expand the library of games by one or two titles every month.
