Is Wargaming going to buy Crytek?

Ryse

Recently, it was reported that due to weak Ryse sales and the low popularity of CryEngine among developers, the German company Crytek may be sold. Wargaming is listed among the possible buyers.

The source of the "drain" was the German magazine Gamestar, which published the material Die Geier kreisen über Crytek (Kites circling over Crytek). The author of the material is André Peschke with reference to Crytek co-founder Avni Yerli, Avni Yerli claims that Ryse did not sell as well as the company hoped (the game was made in a hurry, in order for the game to be ready on time, the company had to hire new employees a few months before the release).

In addition, many third-party teams working on CryEngine were unhappy with it. This has led to the fact that companies interested in buying a game engine for their projects are bypassing Crytek.

In general, according to Peschke, there are not so many successful cash projects created with the participation of Germans, and those that exist are popular only in regional markets.

Today, Crytek is starting to lose leading employees who, due to financial problems, it does not have time to pay their salaries on time.

The whole complex of problems may lead to the fact that Crytek will soon declare bankruptcy and be sold. If this does happen, one of the likely buyers will be the authors of World of Tanks, the Wargaming company.

However, we are on App2Top.ru We don't quite understand why they need such an asset.
