The creators of the egg game raised $5.6 million
Beautiful eyes are not enough to get investments. This is well known to the founders of Nix Hydra, a studio whose first game project has gained more than 9 million downloads in five months.
We are talking about a new version of tamagotchi — Egg Baby, released by the company in February last year. According to the founders of the studio Lina Chen and Naomi Ladizinsky, the game became popular thanks to word of mouth, it did not have a marketing budget.
The girls who studied together at Yale University explain their success to their chosen audience – young girls "who are careful about what they post on Facebook, because their parents are there too. But they're also trying to figure out who they are, and they like trying on different roles."
Egg Baby is just about that. Depending on how the player takes care of the egg, different creatures hatch from it (for example, decorated the egg with horns — got a deer, and so on).
The project was noticed by investors who have currently invested $5.6 million in the studio ($5 million — Foundry Group, another $600 thousand – a private investor from Buddy Media).
