Summing up 2013: interview with Renatus

Together with our industry colleagues, we continue to summarize the results of 2013. This article contains an interview with Renatus.

The questions were answered by the PR director of the company, Alexandra Skripka.

Alexandra Skripka

What event/trend would you call the key event in the outgoing year in the mobile applications and games industry?

  • The final transition of all top market players to the f2p model;
  • increasing the number of hardcore and midcore projects;
  • the growing monopolization of the market in conjunction with the constant increase in the cost of attracting traffic and getting into the top ranks. This leads to the fact that independent developers and small studios have less and less chance of independent success.;
  • the constant growth and development of Android markets, primarily Google Play.

What would you call the main event for your company this year?

The main events for us in 2013 were:

1. The release of a large number of titles both on social networks and on mobile platforms

In 2013, games such as Mystery Revenge: Hidden Evidence, Undersky: The Eternal Saga, Dream: Hidden Adventure were released. Many already popular games have become available on other platforms. Undersky: The Eternal Saga was featured in different countries in the Windows Phone Store, Mystery Revenge: Hidden Evidence — on Facebook.

2. Diversification of our portfolio

Having gathered more than 10 million casual players in 2013, we decided to master the midcore segment by releasing two RPGs: Brave Tales and Nuclear Farm: Aurora. This year we will release several more midcore projects.

Brave Tales

3. DevGAMM Conference

Renatus became the organizer of the DevGAMM gaming conference (formerly FlashGamm) and held a very successful event in Kiev, gathering 1300 participants.

Please name one or two games (not from your company) that you can call the best projects on mobile platforms based on the results of the outgoing year.

Of course, from the point of view of the rating of box office games, the year was marked by Puzzle &Dragons, Clash of Clans and Candy Crush Saga, although they were launched in 2012.

If we do not take commercial success as the main factor of choice, then we would call Injustice: Gods Among Us and Deer Hunter 2014.

Thanks for the interview!
