Cut the Rope 2 was released yesterday

Before Apple leaves for the holidays, mobile game developers are trying to have time to release their projects. About the most interesting releases – all day today in our materials. The first in line is Cut the Rope 2.

More than three years after the release of the original game in October 2010, a full-fledged second part of the adventures of Am-Nyam, a funny creature resembling a frog, was released.

Change

There are two key changes between all the games released under this franchise before (and this, we recall, is the original Cut the Rope, Cut the Rope: Experiments and Cut the Rope: Time Travel):

1. Am-Yum has become interactiveIf earlier the main task was to bring the candy to the mouth of the creature, which remained in one place throughout the mission, now to solve some puzzles it is necessary to transfer Am-Nyam himself to one point or another.

2. Full-fledged storeIt was there before, but now you can buy a lot of different content in the game: things necessary for solving puzzles, hats for Am-Nyama, traces of swipe.

Prices bite.

ZeptoLab itself highlights the appearance of characters among the main changes. But, in our opinion, there could well have been inanimate objects instead. So the main innovative role of the new heroes of the game is to increase the mimicry of Cut the Rope 2 to an exorbitant level.

By the way, about a year ago Alawar released Runaway Snack, a very beautiful project inspired by the original Cut the Rope. When playing Cut the Rope 2, for some reason we were constantly thinking about him.

First results

At the moment, Cut the Rope 2 leads the paid top in 45 countries (including the USA, Germany and Russia) and is among the top five paid applications in 70 countries. In the States, the game occupies the 29th position in the box office top, in Germany – the 19th place, in Russia – the 21st.

It’s too early to talk about the exact number of downloads and revenue. In June 2012, the total franchise downloads from all platforms exceeded the 100 million mark. In May 2013, this figure was already 500 million.

How much the development of the game also cost is still unknown. Recall that Cut the Rope: Time Travel, released last year, cost $ 1 million according to Vedomosti, and the first part cost the studio, excluding marketing, as the creative director of ZeptoLab told us Semyon Voinov, at $1,500.

Cut the Rope is currently released only on iOS. You can buy it in the App Store for 33 rubles.
