Distimo: Global Application Tops (September 2013)

Yesterday Distimo presented the Top Global Apps report for September. According to the figures given in it, revenue from Google Play has grown significantly over the past six months.

But first about the applications. There are three positions in the top free iOS apps of September for games. The download champions include Candy Crush Saga, Deer Hunter 2014 and Despicable Me: Minion Rush.

The situation regarding downloads on Google Play is somewhat different. There is only one game in the Top 5 – Candy Crush Saga.

But only games are presented in the Amamzon Appstore. But you don’t expect to see many recognizable titles in it. In second place, for example, Guess what? from the obscure Blue Sky Games.

In the paid top of September on the App Store, the first place is for Angry Birds Star Wars II. As for the second, then there is Minecraft – Pocket Edition, whose phenomenon continues to amaze. The “build your own world” concept works great on all platforms. The top also includes the games Asphalt 8: Airborne and Infinity Blade III.

In the paid top of Google Play, as in the free one, there is only one game. And yes, it’s Minecraft. According to paid downloads, it is in second place.

It probably won’t be a surprise to anyone that there is Minecraft in the Amazon Appstore too. The game is in the first position here. Behind her in the top are Angry Birds Star Wars II, Plants vs. Zombies (the original game), Wreck-It Ralph and Survivalcraft.

As for grossing, if we talk about the App Store, it almost does not cause surprise (Clash of Clans is in the leaders, Candy Crush Saga, Hay Day and Puzzle & Dragons are also on the list). The only surprise is the appearance of Pet Rescue Saga among the highest-grossing games on the planet.

In the box office top of Google Play, three out of five applications are from Japan: in the first place, パズルドドドドド(((Puzzle & Dragons), in the third LINE Pokopang, in the fifth – LINE messenger: Free Calls & Messages. By the way, one Korean market can ensure that the game gets into the world grossing. It’s about 몬스터 길들이기 for Kakao. By the end of September, it became the 4th highest-grossing app in the world on Google Play.

As for the overall revenue situation, it is as follows: in September, 35% of the total revenue from mobile markets fell on Google Play. In April, this figure was only 26%.  A source:
