King is going to IPO soon

The British company King has applied for an initial placement of securities in the United States. It is expected that its value on the exchange will be more than $ 5 billion.

For the first time, King’s plans to enter the IPO became known in June of this year. Immediately after that, information also appeared about the closure of a number of the company’s games, far from the success of its main titles – Candy Crush Saga, Pet Rescue Saga and Farm Heroes Saga. The reduction in the portfolio was most likely due to the fact that a possible decrease in the performance of these projects (which are not already characterized by high profitability) would not affect the value of the company itself in the future.

King’s annual turnover by the beginning of 2013 was more than £300 million. Given the rapid growth in popularity of Candy Crush Saga, we can assume that now the annual sales volume is noticeably higher.

The Telegraph also notes that in 2011, the number of total monthly sessions of King games was 300 million, and now 30 billion.

Based on these figures, for some reason it seems to us that King’s capitalization will quickly overtake that of GungHo in terms of volumes. The cost of the authors of Puzzle & Dragons, recall, this spring was $ 15 billion.
