Angry Birds Star Wars II has been released on mobile platforms

A celebration on the street of fans of “Star Wars” and the bird series Rovio. On September 18, the day before the official release, the second part of Angry Birds Star Wars was released on the App Store and Google Play.

It is difficult to consider the new game as a full-fledged continuation of “Angry Birds”. In fact, the Finns have been feeding users the same gameplay for the fourth year in a row without significant innovations. However, this is also understood in Rovio.

On the one hand, they are afraid to radically change anything in mechanics, on the other, they still try to bring maximum variety to mechanics. In the case of Angry Birds Star Wars II, the developers decided to bet on the introduction of a large number of new characters, as well as pigs as a full-fledged gaming side.

It also became finally clear that, knowing about the brand fatigue experienced by the adult audience for a long time, Rovio is building a toy company in its classical sense (a la Disney). That is, the main audience for her now are children. This is evidenced by the introduction of real figures of the game’s characters, with the purchase of which users can use them in the game itself (a la Skylanders Giants).

Anyway, we didn’t like the lack of leaderboards and close integration with social networks in the new game. After Plants vs. Zombies 2, the lack of a full-fledged encyclopedia of characters and a coherent storyline is also annoying.

As for Western observers, they gave the game high marks:

  • TouchArcade – 5 out of 5
  • IGN – 8,6 out of 10
  • Pocket Gamer – 7 out of 10
