Starbucks Coffee Shops promote Cyto
Ukrainian developers from the Room 8 team reported that their Cyto’s Puzzle Adventure game became the Pick Of the Week of Starbucks coffee shops as part of a joint campaign with Apple.
Cyto’s Puzzle AdventurePromotion can be completely different.
We often just forget about a number of tools. A good example is the experience of Room 8, whose cute puzzle Cyto’s Puzzle Adventure has recently become available for free to visitors of Starbucks coffee shops in the USA, Canada, Great Britain and Ireland. This is about 15 thousand establishments.
In fact, it’s a great idea: to offer an application to visitors of a certain institution for free for a week. According to this scheme, Starbucks has been working together with Apple in a number of countries since 2011.
Until last April, it was conducted as follows: caffeine visitors received a special card with a password. When entering this password in iTunes, the installation of the application began.
The scheme was, to put it mildly, not the most convenient. And this spring, the management of Starbucks offered its visitors a new way to download the “choice of the week”. The application participating in the promotion can now be downloaded via the Starbucks mobile app or using local Wi-Fi. The first game that was distributed “by new standards” was Angry Birds Star Wars.
Based on App Annie data, the promotion did not affect downloads of the game in the US, but slightly increased them in the UK.
We have yet to find out how much the promotion will affect Cyto downloads in general.Promotion of the game in coffee shops began only on July 23. At the moment, the number of installations of the game in the USA, Canada, Great Britain and Ireland is rapidly going up.
