Release date announced for Plants vs. Zombies 2 on iOS

The exclusive release of the game Plants vs. Zombies 2 for iOS devices will take place on July 18, as announced by developer Popcap Games.

Unlike the original, the sequel will be available for free download. According to the company, the second part will be a "game-as-a-service" (and, apparently, as is common nowadays, with a social component). The developers are already promising to regularly release new game modes.

In the release version, however, there will only be two modes: the original tower defense and the mysterious time travel (will it allow you to rewind time backward?). There will also be new levels, types of plants, zombies, and bonuses.

Publisher Electronic Arts is currently seriously committed to developing the Plants vs. Zombies brand, as evidenced not only by the announcement of the second game but also by the recent release of its social version.
