In 2013, tablets will outstrip laptops in terms of supply
The mobile market is under the close attention of many analytical firms. Thus, experts from IDC in the latest Worldwide Quarterly Tablet Tracker note that this year the volume of tablet shipments will increase from 144.5 million (2012) to 229.3 million, that is, by 58.7%.
The growing popularity of tablets has a significant impact on the PC market. According to IDC forecasts, this year they will surpass laptops in terms of the number of shipments, and by 2015 they will leave behind all PCs (laptops + desktops).
The tablet market was dominated by Apple from the very beginning, but gradually it was filled with cheaper Android devices. The average global selling price (ASP) for tablets this year decreased by 10.8% to $381 (and continues to fall), while the ASP for PCs was almost twice as much.
What this will lead to is quite understandable. The personal computer will leave the house. Its place will be taken by a tablet and, if we talk about the field of family entertainment, a TV going online.
