HTC has slipped to the level of Motorola

comScore analysts presented the latest data on the distribution of vendor and mobile OS shares in the US smartphone market.

Over the past quarter (December 2012 – March 2013), the shares of Samsung and Apple continued to grow due to the displacement of other smartphone manufacturers from the market. Moreover, HTC lost the most, which owns almost the same market share as Motorola (9% vs. 8.5%).

According to the previous comScore report, in February, as well as three months ago, the difference between vendor shares was almost 1%, so fundamental changes for HTC occurred in March. Perhaps this happened due to the delayed release of the new flagship and a decrease in sales figures in anticipation of the new product. Recall that the release of the HTC One smartphone fell at the very end of March.

As for mobile platforms, Android and iOS account for 91% of US smartphones, which is about 136.7 million users. Accordingly, 52% or 71.1 million users use Android smartphones in America, 39% or 53.3 million use iOS.
