Distimo summed up the results of March
Distimo company told about which applications according to the results of last March topped the world tops of free applications, paid applications and cash applications.
Free apps
The most downloaded iOS app in the world in March was the game Candy Crush Saga.
Facebook was in the first position in terms of downloads in the Play Store. The latter is very symptomatic. There was only one game in the top 5 among the free apps for the Google store (Temple Run 2), and even then in the last position. All other places went to social and communication applications.
The situation in Apple’s store is different. Three of the five apps are games. The Candy Crush Saga mentioned just above occupied the first position in the top, 4 Pics 1 Word – the third place, Temple Run 2 – the fourth. Funny incident: the remaining second and fifth places went to Google applications – YouTube and Google Maps, respectively.
Paid apps
The paid top of the App Store was also dominated by games. Four of the five positions are behind them. The leader among gaming applications turned out to be the Temple Run: Oz project, which took second place “in the overall top”. The first one was WhatsApp Messenger.
As for Google Play, there is only one game in its top paid applications: in fourth place is Minecraft – Pocket Edition from Mojang, a project whose box office success is very difficult to explain based on any approach familiar to the mobile market. It is expensive, there is no IAP in it, and almost nothing is spent on its promotion.
The world leader in the chart of paid apps for Google Play, in turn, is SwiftKey Keyboard.
Cash applications
In March, Supercell continues to be the most successful game publisher on the App Store. Clash of Clans was at the top of the world box office top, Hay Day occupied the third position.
There are few familiar names in the top five box office of Google Play: Puzzle & Dragons is in the first place in collections, Candy Crush Saga is in the fourth. The other three projects don’t even have English-language names, they are distributed only in Korea.
This, by the way, is quite understandable. While most of the global App Store cash is generated by the states, the Japanese and Korean markets earn the most money for Google Play.
LeaderPuzzle & Dragons earned the most money in March.
The game has been leading the box office top of the Japanese App Store since February 2012. In addition, the game has been continuously in the first position of the Japanese box office chart of Google Play for more than 180 days.
