The mobile and console versions of Injustice will be closely linked with each other
Recently, we wrote about the announcement of the mobile version of Injustice and speculated about what the iOS game would become for its "console sibling." One theory suggested that it could turn out to be an additional monetization tool for the original game.
With the release of the project, it turned out that this guess was correct.
See for yourself, Injustice for iOS is a mix of Infinity Blade and a card collection game. The latter's elements are expressed in the presence of ability cards and hero cards from the game. The first are used for upgrading characters, while the second are for expanding the library of available fighters.
Users can use cards opened on their iPhone in, for example, Xbox battles. Moreover, there is reverse compatibility. In-game currency, experience, and character skins earned on the console become available on iOS after synchronization.
Considering that the mobile Injustice: Gods Among Us is distributed on a free-to-play model, it is clear that cards (and thus, game heroes) can be purchased with real money. This way, two games are monetized at once: Injustice for iOS and Injustice for consoles.
A clever solution.
