Marmalade promises a revolution in porting
The creators of the Marmalade SDK cross-platform toolkit yesterday announced a new Marmalade Juice solution that simplifies porting iOS games to Android.
Previously, developers had to port games written in Objective-C to other platforms, rewriting solid “chunks” of code. The new Marmalade Juice technology, which its creators call the “iOS on Android SDK”, solves this problem. A game developed in Objective-C can be imported entirely into the Marmalade SDK as a project, which can then be optimized and released on any platform of interest to the developer, including Android, BlackBerry and even SmartTV.
As a good example of Marmelade, they cite a box office hit Tap Paradise Cove by Pocket Gems, which was created in Objective-C and then ported in December 2012 using Marmalade Juice on Android. And since that moment, it has been downloaded on a new platform for itself more than 1 million times.
