Tizen-gadget already in August

The first devices based on the Tizen platform will appear on the market in the third quarter of this year, Samsung’s CEO said in an interview with Bloomberg.

“A smartphone based on Tizen will be released either in August or in September, and it will be a top-class device,” Lee Young Hee stressed in an interview with a journalist of the American edition. – “This will be our best product, with the best characteristics.”

Thus, experts believe that Samsung will meet autumn armed with three flagships: the recently introduced Samsung Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 3 and a novelty on Tizen, which at least will not be inferior in filling to its “relatives”.

Is there a chance? If anyone has a chance to push iOS and Android mobile platforms on the market today, it is, of course, only Samsung, which accounts for a quarter of global mobile sales.

As we have already written, the Korean company is concerned about its dependence on Google. In the third quarter of last year, 96% of all Samsung smartphones shipped were running on Android. So it is quite understandable that she wants to diversify her business.

The only question is, will she succeed in what she has planned, will there be a repeat of the story with Bada? Mobile-Review analyst Eldar Murtazin believes that this is quite possible. According to him, even the strategy of promoting Tizen at this stage is exactly the same: the offer of expensive models in a metal case and with the characteristics of the devices of the previous season.

In any case, for mobile device developers, the release of a new system promoted by one of the central players in the smartphone market means that the OS will fight for the best of them. Moreover, the fight has already begun. We recently reported on the 100% Indie initiative promoted by Chillingo together with Samsung. It is quite possible that this is a way to promote not only the Korean company’s Android market, but also, in the future, the yet-to-be-announced Tizen app store.
