Gamepad for Samsung Galaxy S4

The other day, a new flagship smartphone Galaxy S4 was announced as part of the Samsung Unpacked event. Just a couple of days later, details about the gamepad created by the Korean giant for him became known. What it can become for the industry, App2Top understood.

The controller is connected to the phone via Bluetooth, and there is a dock in the upper part of it for securely fixing the device. Users will be able to use the new gadget to play not only on a smartphone, but also in a bundle: a controller, a smartphone, an LCD TV. However, at the moment it is not entirely clear whether it will be possible to play on Smart TV-enabled TVs without a smartphone at all.

A lot depends on the answer to the last question. If, with the help of Game Arcade (unofficially, the controller is called that way), the owners of smart TV will have the opportunity to play, including shooters for Android, this will probably be Samsung’s first step towards the console market. More precisely, to its destruction in its classical sense.

On the other hand, given the power of the Korean company, one more assumption can be made. If Samsung seriously intends to take up the promotion of its own controller, Ouya and any Game stick are over. Game Arcade will be ready to offer the end user the same as they do, but on his side, at least, the marketing power of Samsung and its sales channels. In general, the appearance of the controller and its promotion can become an additional sales driver for both smartphones of the company that will support it, and televisions (of course, if there is a rigid binding of the company’s smartphones to the company’s televisions).

Knowing about the new product, users, for example, Samsung Galaxy S4 will seek to purchase Samsung Smart TV and vice versa. And, yes, even in such a variation, where not a controller, but a smartphone is a console, it will be possible to expand the gaming mobile audience by counting console gamers attracted by cheap games that are no longer much inferior in graphics to current generations of consoles.

The start of sales of Game Arcade is scheduled for May. They promise that by that time you will be able to find at least 80 games that support the controller on Google Play.
