Rovio has released a farm

The Finnish company has published in the App Store, Google Play and Amazon Appstore its new project – The Croods farm based on the cartoon coming out the other day from DreamWorks.

The game, like the animated film, tells the story of a family of cavemen engaged in gathering, construction, as well as hunting prehistoric animals (including a saber-toothed rabbit).

Our first feelings about the project are very contradictory. On the one hand, the Finns were pleased with the charming hand-drawn graphics, atmospheric music, high-quality graphic design, which, most likely, DreamWorks artists also had a hand in creating.

On the other hand, the training mode in the game is very weak, the control is far from intuitive, the internal logic is not obvious at all. For example, in order for carrots to grow, you need to catch one of the creatures, build a carrot bed and feed an animal with raspberries on this bed.

In other words, when playing, we were not left with the idea that the authors of The Croods had overdone psychedelics when writing the design document. Probably, this is not so bad, but how to play the resulting project is not yet completely clear to us.

Another strange moment is the need to register a Rovio account for the game. It’s tempting to quip: “Guys, forget about Facebook and Game Center – this is the last century, register with Rovio.” By the way, both of the latter services are in the game, but are optional.

At the moment, the game is in first place in the top free downloads in three countries: Moldova, Hungary and Belarus.
