Apple will allow the resale of apps

As reported by the well-known resource Apple Insider, Apple has filed a patent application for a system that allows end users to resell and "rent" digital products.

Currently, the rights to distribute content purchased from the Apple store remain with the authors of the work.

The system described in the patent is designed to allow users to resell, temporarily transfer, or rent out digital content purchased in iTunes. A portion of the money received by the seller would be allocated to the main copyright holders.

Certain restrictions may be imposed on transactions. For example, permission to sell might only be granted after a specific period of ownership of the content. Additionally, there could be regional restrictions, a minimum price setting, or a limit on the number of resales.

It should be noted that not long ago, Amazon also filed a patent application for a system of secondary sales of digital content.

If the patent comes into effect, it will address a number of contentious legal issues that have been raised repeatedly by consumers in the U.S. (many still remember the alleged legal dispute between Bruce Willis and Apple on this matter), and it may also give a second life to projects distributed for a fee. Only this time, they would be promoted not by the manufacturer, but by the user themselves.
