Free downloads at their peak

The cost of acquiring a loyal user in January fell as expected, and the number of downloads increased, according to Fiksu in its monthly report.

The price of a loyal iPhone user in the United States, compared to December 2012, lost 7% in January 2013: it fell from $1.67 to $1.56. Recall that a loyal user is someone who has opened the application three or more times. In January 2012, its cost was $1.14, which is 59% less than in December 2011. So this time the price drop was not so critical. The reduction in indicators is associated with the end of the Christmas season.

As for the number of free downloads, it has grown significantly in the United States in January. If in December their number was 5.32 million, then a month later they reached a value of 6.01 million. This is the highest figure since February 2012, when they reached 6.35 million. A month later, Apple started a war with bots and the number of downloads immediately dropped to 4.45 million. It is unlikely that we should expect something like this this time. The gradual increase in traffic correlates with the high sales of the iPhone 5, which began in September last year.
