Box Office Hits (02/11/2013)
We are returning to the weekly reports on the situation in the American mobile app market. There are no unfamiliar or new names here, but there is an intense battle for users' wallets.
Grossing Top of American iPhone Games
Let's skip Clash of Clans, which is in the first place. It's already clear what's going on with them. The folks at Supercell currently have only two problems: what to do with high-level players and how to spend the money.
Candy Crush Saga is in second place. This is the second mobile project from King.com Limited and the second successful one. However, the game's ARPU at the moment, judging by its position in the free chart compared to the grossing position, is not very high. It's clear that enormous sums are spent on its promotion, but what the ROI is, remains unclear.
Candies, 200 levels, and a global leaderboard — that's success!
In any case, the presence of a match-3 game in the grossing top indicates that not everyone has lost their love for casual entertainment in the market and are even willing to pay for it.
The third position is held by a paid app. Minecraft – Pocket Edition, just like six months ago, costs $6.99. And we're not sure if Markus Persson spends even a dollar a day on promoting his game. The project is advertised by numerous YouTube videos and non-gaming press.
The only gambling app in the gaming top is Slotomania — Slot Machines from Playtika LTD, thanks to regular updates (three new versions of the project have been released since late December).
Beautiful art plays an important role even in slots
Rage of Bahamut is not visible in the top for iPhone, instead another DeNA project with identical mechanics — MARVEL War of Heroes — takes its place. Temple Run 2, which was in the top five just days ago, is now out of the top list. Meanwhile, its sibling Subway Surfers holds the ninth spot.

Grossing Top of American iPad Games
The key difference in the grossing top of iPad apps is the presence of three gambling apps. Joining Slotomania are Bingo Bash HD and the GSN Casino collection. The HD version of Mystery Manor from Game Insight has also slipped into the chart. Otherwise, nothing interesting, everything remains as usual: Supercell, Mojang, Backflip, EA.

Grossing Top of American Games on Google Play
DeNA has captured the top five grossing apps in the American chart: their products occupy the second, third, and fourth places. As you might guess, each one is built on collection and PvP. As for first place, it's held by Candy Crush Saga.
DeNA is expanding into Western territories
In the second five, there are two projects from Kabam. The Hobbit: Kingdoms is in seventh place, Kingdoms of Camelot: Battle — in ninth. And yet, they say that cloning is prohibited in the USA.
By the way, there are quite a few gambling games in the Google Play top as well — three, to be exact.
