Tamagotchis are coming back
Namco Bandai has announced that they are working on an updated version of the iconic early 90s mobile game, Tamagotchi, for iOS and Android.
We're not really surprised.
The concept of the game is perfectly suited for smartphones and tablets, a fact well known to the creators of My Horse.
So the only question is: why did it take so long for this to happen for those who grew up in the early 90s?
The game's concept, as a reminder, involves feeding a virtual creature on time, raising it, playing with it, and cleaning up after it. It's like The Sims in miniature. The main feature of the original project was that if you didn't take care of your Tamagotchi, it would die. These rules encouraged children, among whom the game was wildly popular, to take their responsibilities seriously.
In the new version, titled Tamagotchi L.I.F.E., everything will, unfortunately, be less serious. In the game, which hasn't changed much visually over 20 years, you can save your progress. So if your pet dies, you can revive it.
Bandai has not announced an exact release date for the game.
