Paradox announced a turn-based strategy game for iOS and Android

Despite the cancellation of the mobile version of Hearts of Iron, the Swedish publisher is still determined to strengthen its position on the App Store and Google Play. As of today, February 1, Paradox is developing a war game about naval battles.

The new game, set for release this year, is called Leviathan: Warships. Based on the press release, it's not a classic turn-based game or a war game like Panzer General, but something akin to SteamBirds by SpryFox. The latter, remember, borrowed its combat system from "Space Rangers."

The setting of the project is far from Paradox's traditional historical approach. Leviathan: Warships is a tribute to retrofuturism: fantastical laser cannons and giant cruisers that visually resemble early 20th-century ships.

The game will feature a ship editor, where you need to customize vessels by arranging weaponry. Additionally, developers promise three military factions, PvE and PvP multiplayer, and, most interestingly, cloud saves. This is because the game will also be released on PC and Mac. So if you start playing on your desktop system and then head outdoors, you can continue playing Leviathan: Warships on your iPhone from where you left off on your PC.

The game is being developed by the creators of Magicka from Pieces Interactive.
