Gameloft is making a Team Fortress 2 clone

Gameloft announced an online third-person mobile shooter called Blitz Brigade for iOS and Android, while quietly shutting down its Indian studio in Hyderabad.

The French company continues to instill a love for three-dimensional, quasi-console action games with awkward touch controls among mobile gamers. Previously, Gameloft delighted fans with clones of Call of Duty and Halo, but now it's time for a spiritual successor to Team Fortress 2. This involves not only borrowing a recognizable style but also multiplayer mechanics. In this new game, team members will also be assigned various roles (assault, scout, sniper, medic, machine gunner). More than 100 types of weapons and the use of vehicles are promised.

Amidst the announcement, another piece of news, this time controversial, concerning Gameloft went relatively unnoticed. According to unofficial reports, the company is closing its studio in Hyderabad, India, and laying off all of its 250 employees. Information on Gamasutra suggests that the closure is happening in an extreme hurry and possibly unlawfully. No official comments have been made on this matter yet. The Hyderabad studio was responsible for porting Gameloft's iOS games to the Android platform.
