Gameloft earned $275 million in a year
The creators of the Modern Combat, N.O.V.A. and Asphalt series reported a 27% annual increase in revenue. They would have been more significant if not for the mediocre results of the fourth quarter.
While in the second and third quarters of 2012, revenue growth, compared with the same periods of 2011, was 35% and 37%, respectively, the fourth quarter showed a relatively weak 23%. Despite this, the company’s sales for the year still turned out to be higher than originally planned by $ 15 million.
In total, Gameloft received about $76.5 million in the fourth quarter. The majority (56%) of this amount was earned by the company on games for iOS and Android. The rest fell on Java projects that the French company has been successfully selling in emerging markets for many years.
By the way, despite the growth in revenue and the regular release of high-profile mobile projects, the publisher does not “get off” the Java needle so quickly. While in the first quarter, sales of games for regular mobile phones were responsible for 60% of French revenues, by the end of the fourth quarter this figure had fallen to only 44%.
The main projects in terms of revenue for Gameloft in the fourth quarter were: Modern Combat 4, World at Arms and My Little Pony. The “oldies” of Ice Age Village, Order also showed themselves very well & Chaos Online and Asphalt 7.
North America brings most of the income to the French, it is responsible for 31% of the company’s profit. Europe accounts for a solid 27%. Surprisingly, the Asia-Pacific region brings in only 22%, about the same as Latin America, which accounts for 20%.
