YouTube has released the Player API for Android

YouTube has announced the release of the long-promised Player API for Android developers, allowing them to integrate videos into their applications.

This toolkit was announced back in June at the Google I/O conference, but only now it has become available to developers.

The API works in applications on devices equipped with Android 2.2 and higher. It provides full-screen video display, supports orientation change (portrait/landscape), subtitles, YouTube ads, etc.

The first applications using the YouTube API functionality for Android have already appeared. Among them are Flipboard, Buzzfeed, 9×9.tv , SoundTracking, Skimble and others.
