The creator of Halo makes a mobile shooter

The founder of Bungie is going to revolutionize the action genre on mobile platforms. The “modular” gameplay and writer John Scalzi will help him in this.

As our colleagues from Gamesindustry write, before the release of Halo in 2001, no one took shooters on consoles seriously. Now it is one of the most popular game genres on Xbox consoles.

Halo is still the most popular series of games on Microsoft consoles

Bungie’s founder, Alex Seropian, who was at the origins of the Halo series, wants to repeat his success more than a decade ago by making shooters an equally popular and convenient genre on mobile platforms.

Yesterday, his new company Industrial Toys officially announced its first project – the Morning Star iOS shooter, which is positioned as a “complete rethinking of the genre” and whose release is scheduled for next summer.

The developers promise an exciting story written by the popular science fiction writer John Scalzi, cool art from one of the Marvel and DC artists, developed AI, as well as two control schemes – one for smartphones, the other for tablets.

In an interview with Gamesindustry, Industrial Toys president Tim Harris also noted that they followed a “modular” path in the development of the project. In his opinion, the player should have the opportunity to choose: spend five minutes on the game or completely immerse himself in its world.

Harris also believes that you should not copy the mechanics of console projects by creating mobile games. It’s a dead end. It is necessary to create native iOS gameplay projects. This is the only way to find a common language with the main audience of the market

The game is being developed on the mobile version of Unreal Engine.
