Sega invites you to the "Crazy Taxi"

Like many major publishers of “big” games, Sega is paying more and more attention to the field of mobile gaming. Yesterday, the mobile release of one of the most popular games for the Dreamcast, the fun racing arcade Crazy Taxi, took place. The project was released on the iOS platform.

The original version of the game appeared on arcade machines in 1999. In 2000, she settled on the Dreamcast. After that, Crazy Taxi was ported to everything: it was released in versions for PlayStation 2, GameCube, on consoles of the current generation and even on PC. And now the game has become available to users of mobile devices. For Crazy Taxi they ask $4.99.

The essence of the game boils down, as 14 years ago, to the delivery of passengers at speed to the tracks of hit bands of the late 90s, including Offspring and Bad Religion. Despite the archaic graphics and not too convenient controls (it is not always possible to perform combos using the touch screen), the game was able not to lose the drive. And this, perhaps, is the main thing.

Funny, but the gameplay of Crazy Taxi is conceptually close to modern mobile projects: short, but very intense gaming sessions from three to ten minutes. In addition, the new version includes fashionable social “features” that allow users to “measure” their achievements.

At the moment, the game ranks 29th in the American gaming box office top for iPhone.

By the way, today Sega announced that Crazy Taxi will also appear on Android soon.
