80% of free Android programs are hacked
Have you made a free app and think it will save you from pirates? It will not save, according to experts of the company Arxan Technology.
They found that more than 40% of the 15 most popular free iOS apps and about 80% of the 15 most popular free Android apps are hacked. The percentages in the segment of paid applications are higher for obvious reasons.According to Arxan, 92% of the 100 most popular paid iOS apps and every one of the hundred most popular paid Android apps are hacked.
As a rule, if we are talking about piracy in relation to paid applications, then it all comes down to creating a free copy. But everything is much more interesting when it comes to hacking free apps. In this case, hackers are taken to cut out ads, open content available only for money, and bypass the security system.
Hacked versions of both paid and free programs usually contain viruses, McAfee recently reported. With their help, users’ money can be stolen. Sometimes viruses also use an infected smartphone for DDoS attacks.
