Crocodile Swamp scored 100 million downloads
The day before yesterday, the main Disney puzzle game Where’s My Water? – exactly one year has passed. In honor of this event, the company presented an infographic on the project, and also said that the number of installations of the game exceeded the 100 million mark.
These 100 million included total downloads from the App Store and Android, paid and free versions of Where’s My Water? And Where’s My Perry?
The original game, containing 80 levels, was released on the App Store on September 22, 2011. The very next day after the release, it took the first position in the paid chart. The first major addition “Cranky’s Story” appeared on January 25 and was distributed as an IAP. Thanks to him, Where’s My Water? I found myself at the top of the paid iPhone chart again, where I stayed for almost the whole of February.
When interest in the hero of the game, crocodile Swamp, subsided, Disney released a sequel to the game with Perry the platypus in the title role. Where’s My Perry? Almost the entire summer topped the American chart of paid apps. Swampy with the release of Perry was also consistently in the top-10 paid.
How did Disney manage it? Many will say that it’s all about high-quality gameplay, others will complain about the marketing budget, which Disney, to be honest, has a decent one. But, as it seems to us, on one cool gameplay and money, the developers would not have gone far. And they certainly wouldn’t have been able to stay in the tops for long. In many ways, the company managed to achieve success thanks to regular updates. In just a year just for Where’s My Water? 15 packs were released, each of which contained, on average, 20 new levels. In other words, having released a single project, she constantly supported it throughout the year.
By the way, exactly Where’s My Water? It turned out to be the 25th application downloaded from the App Store.
