HP will resume the production of smartphones

According to Meg Whitman, CEO and president of Hewlett-Packard (HP), the company plans to return to the smartphone market.

Hewlett-Packard, the largest manufacturer of personal computers and servers, has officially announced its intention to resume the production of smartphones. Under which platform – the company does not specify.

Given HP’s warm partnership with Microsoft, it can be assumed that future smartphones from Hewlett-Packard will be on Windows Phone 8. According to other rumors, the OS of the new device, codenamed Bender, will be the fourth version of Android.

Recall that Hewlett-Packard has been producing pocket personal computers, which are now called smartphones, since 2000. The release of the iPhone destroyed the familiar PDA market, so HP tried to re-enter it by releasing the HP Veer slider on webOS (formerly Palm) in 2011. Rapid sales and the lack of widespread support from developers forced the company’s executives to curtail the project, recognizing it as unpromising.

However, apparently, the company does not give up hope of re-entering the once familiar market.
