Ubisoft is stepping up in the mobile market
Complaining about the high level of piracy and ignoring accusations of inadequate DRM, Ubisoft is going to f2p, and also, judging by yesterday’s announcements, it is going to be more actively engaged in the mobile business.
During the Digital Days event held in Paris yesterday, the company announced a number of projects. Of immediate interest to us are only two of them: another mobile game in the Assassin’s Creed universe – this time under the title Utopia – and the Rayman Jungle Run project.
The first one is being created jointly with the Japanese giant GREE, which has been actively invading Western markets lately. It will be a “Utopia”, presumably, a farm with elements of a turn-based strategy. In the game, the user will have to develop a colony of settlers and protect it from enemies with the help of the Brotherhood.
To be honest, at the moment the project looks like a Chinese craft.
As for Rayman Jungle Run, this is a platformer /runner from Michel Ansel about the adventures of a well-known guy whose hair can spin like helicopter blades.
Utopia will be released towards the end of autumn, and Ramone will be released on September 20.
