RuneScape for tablets
Jagex has announced the release of its long-lived browser-based MMO RuneScape, celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, on mobile platforms.
It is largely related to the transition of the project to a new engine built on, attention, HTML5. And it looks like RuneScape will be the first three-dimensional MMORPG to use it. Recall that most developers who have dealt with HTML5 claim that at this stage it is not well suited for use in three-dimensional games, and even more so in three-dimensional multiplayer projects.
According to Jagex Executive Director Mark Gerhard, the transition to a new engine with Java not only opened the doors to new platforms for the project, but also significantly improved the graphics component.
RuneScape has a huge user base. In July of this year, the 200 millionth user was registered.
