Samsung announced the Galaxy Note II

Yesterday, on the eve of IFA, the world’s largest electronics show, Samsung hosted a conference at which it officially unveiled the Galaxy Note II, a giant tablet phone with a stylus and 2 GB of RAM.

The new device has become even larger than its predecessor thanks to an increase in the screen diameter to 5.5 inches (compared to 5.3 in the Galaxy Note). However, all those in whose hand the original Note hardly fit, should not shed bitter tears. They will easily hold the second version of the gadget: the screen size has grown not by increasing the width (on the contrary, it has even become a little narrower at the device), but by “lengthening” the gadget.

The design of the novelty is visually very similar to the summer flagship of Samsung – Galaxy III: the same “soap” outlines with smooth lines and a rim around the edge. The screen, according to the first reviews, despite the increased size compared to the display of the third version of the Galaxy (in which it was 4.8 inches), by the type of sensor – SuperAMOLED – and resolution – 1280×720 pixels – is completely similar to it.

The filling of the device has undergone more significant changes. The quad-core processor received 1.6 GHz (versus 1.4 for the Galaxy III), RAM increased to 2 GB (versus 1 GB), and the battery capacity gained some fantastic 3,100 mAh.

But the most interesting innovation touched the pen of the device, or rather, the technology associated with it. It is called Air View and consists in the fact that the sensor reacts not only to pressing the stylus, but also if it is just above the screen. And if the pen is “pointing” at a particular link, the system will respond to this by displaying a small context menu on the screen that demonstrates its content.

The device runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The Galaxy Note II will appear on the shelves in October.
